Nanna – R.I.P.

My Nanna passed away Monday 1 Oct. She was 96 years old, so had lived a long and full life. The funeral was good, as funerals go… When we were growing up we didn’t have a lot to do with my dad’s side of the family, and I never realised how like my Nanna I am! Heredity obviously has a lot to answer for, there are so many creative things that Nanna did that I have done! I never knew…. It was Nanna who taught me my first embroidery stitches, and last year I won Champion Smocked and Embroidered Baby Garment at Canberra Royal Show. I’m so thankful for that legacy that she handed down to me.

I regret that I hadn’t been in contact with her for about two years. I had said a few times that I would write, but life was always too busy and I never got around to it. I didn’t tell her about the show results from last year, I had never introduced her to my husband. I wish I had and now I will never get the chance.
