Goldwork Class – Week 3

Last class. :-( Well the picture from this week doesn’t look like there has been much change… that’s because I didn’t do my homework before the class! I was really busy with other business/coaching stuff and simply ran out of time. So now I just need to work on getting it finished. I’ll post pics on here occasionally as I continue to work on it.

I’m heading back to Ballarat in October, the other ladies from this class and I are having a get-together to work on another of Alison’s kits. This one is called Bejewelled Dragonfly. It is a very simple goldwork piece, with swarovski crystals added. Gorgeous!

Goldwork Class – Week 2

This is the work after the second class today. We’ve started the chipping on the top leaf, embroidering the tudor rose, filling in the green leaf and the Or Nue honeysuckle flowers.

Goldwork Class – Week 1

Yesterday (wednesday) I did the first of three goldwork classes with Alison Cole. The project we are working on is called “Crewel Intentions” and is a goldwork sampler. Click here to see what the finished project will look like.

So after the first class, here is my work thus far. We’ve done the main stems (2 different gold threads), felt padding and gold kid leather on the leaf, and felt padding in the centre of the flower.

The classes are held in Ballarat, which is just over an hour’s drive from here. The drive yesterday took me almost two hours as we had one of the coldest nights on record and there was black ice and snow on the way! Not to mention the fact that it was really really cold!!!!

Sunday 22 July
Here’s the embroidery with the homework for the first week finished. The last of the stems done, felt padding on the honeysuckle leaves and rose leaf, and gold organza applied for the rose leaf. There is still an outline of the rest of the embroidery on the fabric, it just doesn’t show up in the pic! The gold organza will be trimmed later, when I’ve finished working on the leaf.
